The plot begins on a high-note with, computer-hacker, Emily Pelva trying to help cyborgs escape earth. Due to her physical handicaps, she is left with no other option than to stay behind and monitor their getaway while her best friend, and cyborg bodyguard, Mavo, and his people, escape.

Things take a terrifying twist when Emily is found out for helping the cyborgs escape. She is on the cusp of dying from injuries sustained upon her discovery when her father, the creator of cyborgs, decides to change Emily into something other than human, in the hopes of saving her life.
Years pass, and the reader is left wondering what happened to Emily, when we are suddenly introduced to Cyan, a female who is more than she appears. Captured by cyborgs while on a routine response mission to a distress-call in space, the cyborgs take her to their planet, Garden and discover that she is more than human. Forced to never reveal her past identity, Cyan finds her fate in the hands of a very large, and terrifying Krell.

Krell is a scarred cyborg who enjoys his solace. Considered unattractive to female cyborgs in his society, he finds himself forcefully united with Cyan. Krell doesn’t trust Cyan, however, desires soon trump his mission, sending their story into a whirlwind of suspense and action.
Cyan doesn’t care that Krell has a few scars, and wants to climb him the moment she finds herself in his hands. She has it bad for Krell, and the two soon find that trusting one another will have eventually come.

As a reader, you will fall in love with Krell and Cyan. Cyan is such a strong character. She is the perfect fit for Krell. Her love, passion, and unrelenting ability to help others brings a refreshing new light to the Cyborg Seduction Series. Cyan becomes a person we all want to look up to, and Krell eventually finds that no matter who Cyan really is, or was, he wants her to be his. Their connection is powerful.

This series really hits a whole new level with this installment. I can’t believe I am reading the same author that wrote books 1-3 of the Cyborg Seduction Series. The books from 4 until now have been slowly gaining momentum, but this particular book brings a whole new dynamic to the series. Because of Cyan and her presence, it is evident that change for the cyborgs way of life will be undergoing some major reconstruction. This was foreshadowed in book 6, when Zorus fell in love with Charlie. Now with Cyan in the mix, I am interested to see how Cyborgs will grow as a people.

I am excited to see what Book 8 will bring with Blackie. Currently I am re-reading this series. The stories are so much fun to read, and if you are a first time reader to Dohner, it is best if you read everything in order to obtain the full value. It is possible to read each book individually, but you will not regret starting from the start.

While Taunting Krell is the seventh book in the series it can be read alone. However, I recommend at least reading Redeeming Zorus (book 6), but they're all great. A brief rundown of cyborg history: they were created by humans to basically be slaves but they are sentient beings and got tired of their abuse and eventually rebelled and escaped earth. They are stronger, faster and live a lot longer and the government of earth lied and told everyone they all died in their escape. In reality, they settled on a planet they've deemed `Garden' and are trying to keep its existence a secret from the government of earth at all costs. To cyborgs, the majority of humans are their enemy.

Cyan is a soldier from earth sent on a solo mission to destroy Markus Models (psychotic robots that look human but are not sentient beings). She's completely kick-butt and has no problem holding her own against anyone. While on the ship where she was after the Markus Models she runs into cyborgs. She's so stunned she drops her weapons because the last thing she would ever do is hurt a cyborg. Why? Well, there is a lot more to Cyan than meets the eye. The cyborgs who capture her think she is a spy and when they send Krell in to interrogate her, things get out of control and she stabs herself in the leg to prove she's not exactly human. I don't want to give away any spoilers about her real identity, but she played an important part in Cyborg history. When she realizes what kind of laws they've implemented on Garden regarding mating she's heartbroken and rips their council a new one in a very impassioned speech.

When Krell lived in captivity on earth he was tortured and scarred by humans and is considered undesirable by cyborg women. So much so that he's not in a marriage union and has even been excused from joining one because no women want him. It's been 60 months since he's been with a woman so he's a little cranky. Zorus, a council member, orders Krell to take Cyan into his home so he can discover whether or not she's a spy or someone they suspect is very special to cyborgs. Cyan doesn't make a secret that she's attracted to Krell but he thinks she's using him for some ulterior purpose because he assumes no woman would ever want him.

With Krell's inability to trust the gorgeous woman falling for him, there is a lot of miscommunication and really tender moments. This book was heavier on action, romance and sexual tension as opposed to actual sex. In fact, I think this one has the least amount of sex compared to the others in this series.

Taunting Krell really brought out some issues in the series that I've been waiting for. Issues that deal with Cyborgs' and the way they force their females to marry 2-3 males. The last book made progress with the `human ownership' issues and I like that this book had even more progress within the Cyborg society. On a side note, I can really see Ms. Dohner's growth as a writer in this book. Where some of her previous books have felt repetitive in places, this one just had the perfect balance of everything I look for in a romance. My heart broke for both Krell and Cyan as they struggled to find happiness. I'm really looking forward to the next book. Taunting Krell is an action-packed sci-fi erotic romance that's a perfect addition to this series.
